Former AG Alberto Gonzales urges Congress should pursue Fast & Furious
Jun 4th 2012, 21:32

Former Bush administration Attorney General Alberto Gonzales says Congress has the "right" and the "obligation" to get to the bottom of the Obama administration's flawed Fast and Furious program.

"The power of oversight includes the right and duty to request information," Gonzales said in an interview with Fox News Latino.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosive attempted to give guns to purported arms-dealers to track them across the U.S.-Mexico border in hopes the guns would lead to high-level leaders of drug cartels.

However, the guns were purportedly used in street crimes and in connection with the death of U.S. Border Patrol agent Brian Terry during a shootout. Many of the guns have yet to be recovered.

"It's a tragedy to have a member of our government services killed in connection with this operation," Gonzales also said in the wide-ranging interview that also covered Arizona's immigration laws and his support for GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney.
