US accuses China over duties on auto exports Jul 5th 2012, 14:52 The United States is accusing China of unfairly imposing duties on more than $3 billion in exports of American-produced automobiles. Trade Representative Ron Kirk announced Thursday the U.S. has requested consultations at the World Trade Organization, the first step in raising a dispute at the international trade body. Obama administration has previously challenged duties imposed by China on some American steel and chicken products. President Obama was expected to discuss the latest trade complaint on the campaign trail Thursday. Republican candidate Mitt Romney has accused Obama of being too soft on China. The Obama campaign has accused Romney of outsourcing jobs to China when he ran a private equity firm. | |
