A Mexican national reportedly claims he killed U.S. border agent Brian Terry, whose 2010 murder contributed to the exposure of the Operation Fast and Furious scandal.
Weapons from the botched anti-gunrunning program run by the U.S. government were found at Terry's murder scene.
Gustavo Cruz-Lozano made the claim that he pulled the trigger in an exclusive interview with Spanish-language television station Univision, and his comments were then translated and reported by ABCNews.com.
Though several suspects were arrested in connection with the murder of Terry, the 41-year-old Lozano claims he is the one who actually shot him.
"We had a drug shipment and when they took us by surprise, people started surrounding them, and that's when we ambushed them," he reportedly told Univision. "When they started surrounding them and they had no time to react, I was the one, I was the one that killed him."
The FBI has reportedly asked for a copy of the interview.
Cruz-Lozano turned himself in Wednesday on charges he threatened to kill a Texas sheriff.
