Republican Ken Cuccinelli and Democrat Terry McAuliffe are squaring off in their first prime-time debate.

Cuccinelli flaunted his Northern Virginia Technology Council endorsement at the Fairfax County Chamber of Commerce debate, making his case that he is the serious, experienced candidate. He portrayed McAuliffe as a lightweight on public policy and a get-rich-quick huckster.

Asked about his positions on abortion and gay rights, he defended his fundamental beliefs.

Former Democratic National Committee chairman McAuliffe touted himself as the bipartisan consensus builder. But pressed to say how much his public education funding plan would cost, he couldn't, saying only that Medicaid expansion was necessary to free up state money for it.
