GOP lawmaker slaps away TSA agent's hand during pat down -- agent claims assault
Apr 25th 2012, 22:58

A GOP lawmaker (R-TX) recently found himself possibly facing assault charges after he slapped away a TSA agent's hand who he says touched him inappropriately.

Last week, Rep. Quico Canseco was patted down at the San Antonio International Airport. During the pat down, Canseco says the TSA agent touched him in his private area and when he slapped the screener's hand away, the agent claimed that Canseco had assaulted him.

"He touched me in my private parts and it hurt...I said hey, you assaulted me."

Politico reported that it took police 20 minutes to break up the spat.

No charges were filed.

Then, earlier this week he was patted down again in San Antonio and doesn't believe it was a coincidence.

"The second time, I don't believe that ... was random."

The TSA responded with a statement saying, "TSA incorporates random and unpredictable security measures throughout the airport. Once a passenger enters the screening process, they must complete it prior to continuing to a flight or secure area."

When asked about what the incident says regarding TSA procedure he responded by saying, "There has to be so many other ways of approaching airline security than demeaning ourselves by giving up a lot of our dignities and our liberty to do this."
