Paul campaign ignored Army inquiries on soldier who endorsed, records show
May 1st 2012, 17:19

Documents show Ron Paul's presidential campaign didn't return repeated messages from an Army investigator looking into a soldier who endorsed Paul in uniform at an Iowa rally.

Army records obtained Tuesday by The Associated Press under the Freedom of Information Act detail its investigation of Jesse Thorsen, who was reprimanded in March.

Investigator Bradley Borgos wrote that he made numerous attempts to contact Paul's campaign in Iowa, but calls and voicemails weren't returned. He says he requested more time to investigate so they could respond, but no one did. The campaign says it's looking into the matter.

Borgos says he wanted to know more about Thorsen's campaign involvement. Thorsen told investigators he was surprised Paul didn't tell him wearing his uniform would be problematic before calling him to the stage.
