BATON ROUGE, La. – Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal says he won't attend the Republican National Convention, as his home state sits in the crosshairs of Tropical Storm Isaac.
Jindal had been scheduled to speak in Tampa on Wednesday night.
But on Monday, he said he'll be staying home.
"I will not be speaking (at) or attending the Republican convention in Florida," Jindal said at a news conference.
"There is no time for politics here in Louisiana," he said.
Republican elected officials from Louisiana and Mississippi have scrapped or delayed Florida travel plans for the GOP convention. Some who had arrived in Tampa turned around Monday and headed home to wait for Isaac.
Mississippi Gov. Phil Bryant delayed his travel and said he plans to be on the Mississippi Gulf Coast Tuesday night through Wednesday.
