States tout unusual attributes when announcing GOP delegate counts Aug 28th 2012, 22:01 Published August 28, 2012 Associated Press TAMPA, Fla. – The spokespeople for each state announcing the number of delegate votes for each GOP candidate had some unusual things to say Tuesday when making the announcement at the party's convention in Tampa, Fla. The spokesperson for Alabama pronounced the state "on the move." The American Samoa spokesperson touted the territory as "the only American soil in the Southern Hemisphere." Those states and more than 30 other states and territories have cast enough votes for Mitt Romney to officially nominate him as the Republican Party's presidential candidate. New Jersey was the state that put Romney over the top. Romney is expected to accept the nomination Thursday night on the Republican convention's final night. | |
