There are election recounts –and there are Rhode Island election recounts.
The town held recounts this week for seven statewide primary races, including one in which ballots had already been recounted three times.
A Providence Board of Elections official said Tuesday that six of the Sept. 11 primary tallies were resolved in Monday recounts. But the final race -- being recounted for the fourth times -- remains unresolved.
The official said one vote now separates state Democratic Rep. William San Bento Jr. and challenger Carlos E. Tobon and a hearing on the race is scheduled for Wednesday.
San Bento going into the recount had been leading by three votes according to The Providence Journal.
There is no Republican candidate for that seat in the Nov. 6 election.
