A Virginia court on Tuesday dismissed a charge of public intoxication against Ohio Democratic Rep. Tim Ryan, Fox News has confirmed.
The incident occurred August 25 when Ryan was in Lexington, Va., for a staff wedding, according to The Washington Post.
"Congressman Ryan made clear at the time of the citation and ever since that he was not intoxicated, and we're pleased that the court agreed," Ryan spokesman Pat Lowery said.
The 39-year-old Ryan was on Capitol Hill on Tuesday instead of going to the hearing. He was elected to Congress in 2003.
The Lexington, Va., Police Department told The Post it could not provide details about the incident, citing state law.
