Associated Press

Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney plans to speak at next month's Conservative Political Action Conference, making his first public speech since losing the 2012 election to President Obama.

Organizers say Romney will speak on March 15 at the annual meeting of conservative activists. Romney advisers say it will be a chance for him to express his appreciation to supporters and friends.

Romney has maintained a low profile since the election, spending time at his California home. He met with supporters in Washington after the election and visited Obama at the White House for lunch.

American Conservative Union Chairman Al Cardenas says they look forward to hearing Romney's views on national and global affairs and "the future of the conservative movement."

Romney's speech was first reported by the National Review.
