President Obama on Friday morning nominated Dr. Jim Yong Kim, the president of Dartmouth College, as president of the World Bank.
"I believe nobody is more qualified," the president said in a Rose Garden ceremony.
Kim, a physician and anthropologist, was born in South Korea and raised in Iowa. He is the former director of the Department of HIV/AIDS at the World Health Organization.
"He truly has global experience – from Asia to Africa," the president said.
Robert Zoellick, the current World Bank leader, is expected to step down in late July after a 5-year term.
