Nugent says he'll meet with Secret Service over Obama remarks
Apr 18th 2012, 16:52

Rocker Ted Nugent said Wednesday he is scheduled to talk with the Secret Service following controversial remarks he made about President Obama and his administration.

The 63-year-old Nugent, who recently endorsed GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney, said during a recent National Rifle Association convention that the administration was "vile," "evil" and "America-hating."

He also said that if Obama is re-elected, "I will either be dead or in jail by this time next year."

The Secret Service said Wednesday the agency is aware of the comments, but would not say whether Nugent will be interviewed about them.

Nugent, who said his comments were not a call to violence, said on Glenn Beck's radio show that he will meet with agents Thursday.

Democrats are calling on Romney to denounce the comments.

"We have more than 200 days to go in this election," Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz said Tuesday. "If the GOP and Romney are willing to accept this kind of rhetoric at this stage of the campaign, I can't imagine what they'll accept in September and October."

Romney's campaign reportedly has issued a statement calling for civility and condemning "divisive language."
