White House hosts 134th annual Easter Egg Roll
Apr 9th 2012, 12:19

WASHINGTON –  Lots of children and their families from across the country are coming to the White House for the annual Easter Egg Roll on the South Lawn.

The event Monday is the largest for the public on White House grounds, with some 30,000 people expected. Along with the traditional egg roll, there will be storytelling, games and music.

This year's theme "Let's Go, Let's Play, Let's Move," encourages physical activity, part of first lady Michelle Obama's initiative against childhood obesity. That means obstacle courses, tennis, basketball, dancing, jump rope, hula hoop and yoga.

Music will be compliments of Janelle Monae, Cody Simpson, Rachel Crow and Sesame Street

The Easter Egg Roll at the White House dates to 1878 and President Rutherford B. Hayes. It will be broadcast live Monday at whitehouse.gov.
