Drug agents in Colombia scandal recalled from duty
Jun 20th 2012, 15:34

The head of the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration says drug agents accused of misconduct in the wake of a Secret Service prostitution scandal in Colombia have been recalled from the South American country.

DEA Administrator Michele Leonhart says the unnamed agents had their assignments in Colombia curtailed and are assigned to limited duty while a Justice Department inspector general's investigation continues. Leonhart is testifying at a House oversight hearing Wednesday.

Two or more agents working in Colombia are being investigated for misconduct in an investigation that is unrelated to a Secret Service prostitution scandal but based on information given to the DEA by the Secret Service.

Sen. Susan Collins, R-Maine, has said the misconduct involved agents entertaining female masseuses at one agent's apartment in Cartagena, Colombia.
