| Dingell steps closer to 29th term in Congress after winning Democratic primary Aug 8th 2012, 02:40 Published August 07, 2012 Associated Press DEARBORN, Mich. – John Dingell has defeated Daniel Marcin in the Democratic primary in pursuit of his 29th full term in Congress. Dingell of Dearborn faces Republican opposition in the Nov. 7 general election for Michigan's 12th Congressional District seat. The 85-year-old Dingell has been in Congress since 1955 and is the longest serving member in the House. He now represents the 15th District, but must run in the 12th after state Republican's redrew district maps. The 12th District covers parts of southeast Michigan. Dingell has said "had three bad redistrictings" and has "survived every one of them." | |
