| First lady hosts kids at lunchtime 'state dinner' Aug 20th 2012, 16:41 Published August 20, 2012 Associated Press First lady Michelle Obama is cheering America's top junior chefs for coming up with recipes that are healthy and tasty at the same time. At the first ever "kids state dinner" at the White House Monday, the first lady said entrants from across the country found ways to make dishes that are both nutritious and delicious -- truly "amazing stuff." The dishes served on fine White House china included Kickin' Chicken Salad, Power Pesto Pasta, Miss Kitty's Egg Salad Sensation and Secret Service Super Salad. The 54 winners, ages 8 through 12, were chosen from more than 1,200 entries. President Barack Obama also dropped by the lunch to applaud the winners and thank them for "spreading the word about healthy eating." | |
