With less than three weeks before the New Jersey gubernatorial election, Gov. Chris Christie maintains a big lead over his Democratic challenger, state Sen. Barbara Buono.

With wide leads among men and women, Christie sails ahead of Buono 62–33 percent among likely voters, according to a Quinnipiac University poll released Thursday.

The poll was released on the heels of Democrat Cory Booker, mayor of Newark, beating Republican Steve Lonegan in the special election for the U.S. Senate seat left by the late Sen. Frank Lautenberg.

Christie leads 92–6 percent among Republicans and 71–23 percent among independent voters, while Democrats back Buono 66–30 percent, according to the Quinnipiac poll.

The Quinnipiac University poll of 1,938 New Jersey likely voters was conducted from Oct, 10-14, and has a margin of error of 2.2 percentage points.
