| Wisconsin Gov. Walker proposes $100 million property tax cut Oct 11th 2013, 12:25 Published October 11, 2013 Associated Press Gov. Scott Walker is proposing a $100 million property tax cut for the Legislature to take up in special session next week. Walker announced the proposal on Thursday, saying money to pay for the cut will come from higher than anticipated state tax collections. He was joined by Assembly Speaker Robin Vos and Sen. Alberta Darling. Republican Senate President Mike Ellis says, "I don't know why anybody would be opposed to this." But Democratic Rep. Sandy Pasch says no Democrats were included in the drafting of the proposal. Walker did not discuss the plan during a meeting on Wednesday with Democratic leaders of the Senate and Assembly. Walker is announcing the plan just three days after Democrat Mary Burke said she will be challenging him for re-election next year. | |
